But turning this target into an actual result is not simply a matter of production volume.

It is also a matter of supply, quality, traceability, processing, and logistics.

According to information from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, Vietnam’s durian exports reached approximately US$3.85 billion in 2025. In the first eight months of 2026, export value was estimated at US$1.95 billion, with China accounting for around 95%.

This shows that Vietnamese durians still have enormous potential – while also highlighting the need to diversify markets and build a more stable supply chain.

🔎 So, from a trade perspective, what is changing?

1️⃣ Supply is no longer simply about “having products” – it must be stable

Vietnam currently has around 200,000 hectares of durian plantations, with an estimated output of 2.08 million tonnes. However, expanding production areas must go hand in hand with raw material planning, suitable land and water resources, and the ability to organize the value chain.

For sourcing activities, connecting with and evaluating multiple suppliers helps businesses become more proactive in terms of supply availability, volume, quality, and delivery schedules.

2️⃣ Quality and traceability are becoming “requirements for going further”

Import markets are increasingly paying attention to food safety, product standards, and traceability.

Since July 1, 2026, the traceability system has been implemented, allowing access to information related to the cultivation, care, harvesting, and packaging processes.

For international trade, this is not merely a technical requirement. It is also a foundation for building customer trust and maintaining long-term orders.

3️⃣ Logistics and preservation will determine the efficiency of the entire supply chain

Durian requires strict control over preservation conditions and transportation time. As markets expand, the capacity for preliminary processing, cold storage, cargo consolidation, packing, and transportation becomes increasingly important.

A successful shipment requires not only the right supply, but also proper consolidation, control, and logistics coordination according to plan.

4️⃣ Market diversification = more opportunities

China remains the key market, but Vietnam is also looking to expand durian exports to potential markets such as India, Australia, and New Zealand, while promoting frozen durians and processed durian products.

This is also a trend that trading businesses need to proactively embrace: not only finding suppliers, but finding the right supply for the right market.

——————✭✭✭✭✭——————

🌐 Web: https://khainamgroup.com

📨 Mail: trading@khainamgroup.com

The US$4 billion export target for Vietnamese durians in 2026 has been set.
