The project “Climate Resilient Solutions for the Mekong Delta” – abbreviated as “CRxN”, is being implemented through WWF-Vietnam.
Another initiative under the CRxN project is the weaving of water hyacinth by women in Vinh Dai commune.
Water hyacinth, once considered an invasive and harmful plant, has now become a valuable source of income.
CRxN goes beyond simply guiding people in producing goods; it also strives to find markets for the project’s products.
Floating rice, the main product in the CRxN Mekong initiative, is safer and healthier than conventional rice because it doesn’t involve the use of fertilizers or pesticides during cultivation.
However, its hard grain structure and longer cooking time may pose challenges for consumers.
Therefore, support from various stakeholders (WWF-VN; KhaiNamGroup, etc.) could bring floating rice to more foreign markets and develop value-added products from floating rice.
